If you are an absolute beginner, or you know some very very very very basic French (like greetings and the odd word), our Beginner 1 courses are for you. Here are the details:
Beginner 1 courses
- Comprising of one 2.5 hour class per week, for 10 weeks (25 hours tuition).
- Cost: $270 per person. However, if you are joining with your partner or a friend, or a group of friends, the cost is $250 per person. The fee includes all course notes, use of French Centre "Practice" CDs, and GST.
- Approximately 14 students per class.
- When possible we like to offer more than one course at the same level on different days of the same week in which case you pick whichever day suits you best. However, if you can't make it to your class, you are more than welcome to join one of the other classes at the same level on another day of the week.
Starting dates for the next Beginner 1 courses:

Merci!
**Please note: due to the Easter Saturday holiday on the 7th of April, lesson 8 of the Saturday Beginner 1 course will not be held that week and will be postponed to the following Saturday. Thus the Saturday Beginner 1 course starting on the 18th of February will end on the 28th of April. We hope it makes sense!
Further Beginner 1 course details:
- Each class includes a 10 minute coffee break.
- There are 5 French Centre "Practice" CDs for the Beginner 1 course. These must be regularly returned and not copied. If you wish to purchase the CDs the price is $10.00 per CD.
- You'll need to dedicate approximately 2 to 3 hours per week outside of class time to your course, mostly to listen to the French Centre "Practice" CDs. Of course you are not expected to find time for one long three hour study session. Ten minutes here, twenty minutes there - perhaps whilst catching public transport, driving, taking the dog for a walk, or washing the dishes! - is perfect.
- If you would like to gain a better idea of our approach to teaching and what the Beginner 1 course entails, you are more than welcome to sit in one of our current Beginner 1 courses. Just call us on the number below to arrange a "sit-in".
- Classes are held at the French Centre which is located in Porter House, at level 2, 203 Castlereagh Street in the City, between Park & Bathurst streets (for the location map, click here).
